You can have a laid-back vacation of rest & relaxation at the Lodge or there are numerous forest trails, Indian ruins, and the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument (at left), all in close proximity to the Lodge. |
| The Continental Divide Trail for riding and hiking is just down the road, as well as the famous historic Military Road Trail, an old calvary trail, cutting through the mountains. SILVER CITY, just an hours drive away, has many shops, art galleries, the Silver City Museum and Gift Shop, Western New Mexico University, Scott Park Golf Course, and a wide variety of restaurants to choose from. PINOS ALTOS, "The Tall Pines" is also down the road, with a museum, gift shops, galleries and the Buckhorn Saloon and Opera House.
CHINO MINES Just outside Silver City is the Chino Open Pit Copper Mine, still operating. It is the oldest mine in the Southwest with a spectacular viewing area for visitors. BEAR CANYON DAM LAKE is another fishing lake located in the Mimbres Valley just down the highway 14 miles from the Lodge.
